Her Scarlet Death

Shivering, the silence almost deafening. Had she lost her ability to hear, or was the world around her suddenly void of words? Is there no hope when the cancer of hate spreads through the body? Fingers tremble, rage consumes the heart, how long can one fake a smile to make others happy? Sobs of pain felt but never heard. She drank the poison, agonizing welts of despair covering her body with the mark of the beast. A scarlet letter engraved into her back, she begged for the stones that would cease the breaths that she forced her body to swallow.
