As of late I have asked myself, what the hell are you doing here? I am all over the place in the stories I post. I am a fiction writer and allow my mind to set the pace for whatever I write that day, but I’ve been all over the board here. When checking my stats, I’ve noticed that my Kitten Stories get 3 times the views and the likes.
My question is, should I focus on one area or allow my mind to roam as it has? I want to increase my reader base, so that is the burning question of the day. How the heck to you increase your subscriptions and readers. I have written here for 16 months, and I only have 233 subscriptions. I want to share with more, but not sure how to make that happen. Any suggestions are helpful.
I understand better than most the frustration you’re conveying. I have often asked myself the same question. For me personally, I stopped caring what anyone thought and wrote whatever I wanted. I’ve run the gauntlet from fiction to poetry, rants, raves and spirituality. I enjoy the kitten series. It is shocking, entertaining and exciting. My advice is – you do you. What makes you happy? Don’t worry about your base. Be glad you have as many readers as you do. Oftentimes we think we have to go over and above to gain more readers. That’s the dopamine talking. Don’t worry about any of that and just keep writing.

Thank you. I needed this pep talk. Sometimes, like everyone else, I get insecure of myself when it comes to writing. Oh, and thank you about the Kitten Series. I love writing that one.

You are welcome. Just remember, you aren’t alone. Let the insecurities play out in your mind and write about them. Glad I could help

I have been following you a little while A.J. To me it doesn’t matter the content of your writing. You fall into a genre I have been reading all of my life and now I create my own. Follow your ❤️ heart. Write what you like. This honest opinion from just one of your readers.

Thank you so much. I am all over the place when I write, I guess it flows with my mood, and thank you again. I love reading yours as well.

So…I am no expert on blogging. But I have been given a lot of tips by other bloggers.
– Firstly there are ways to increase traffic yes – but some will just result in you being followed by more bots or fakes. They basically follow everyone in hopes of receiving follows back to make their numbers and views higher. For that very reason statistics just suck.
But one key way to increase traffic is always using tags on posts and using ones that will attract traffic. For example, if one of your tags is “blogging” it seems to get more views. But remember, a lot of them will be just be clicking for the sake of it.
– Also…these memes and link-up prompts – they are really important. You come into contact with other writers who will actually read your work and give you feedback. It is also a great way to push yourself and expand your horizons, while at the same time writing in your own style. I think 4THOUGHTS or FICTION and WICKED WESNESDAY are great, but there are lots of others out there.
– But yes back to where I started – I honestly think that even if your numbers of followers go up…the numbers of views and likes will still stay the same.
Most important is to enjoy what you are doing and remember statistics are sucky.

Thank you for all of this. It means the world to me. At times I forget the tags, and I know better than that. I will make a large yellow postIT note to remind me. As for fake or bots, I did not know they were here as well. That is something I am happy to know about. Again, thank you so much.
