Follow the signs

100 words x 365 days

He’s as mad as a hatter and as alluring as the devil himself. Each word he spoke was another lie laced in love. Whispering in her ear, he sold a bridge to a pauper, knowing all she had was her heart to give. Payments made in the form of her soul, when he moved to a new conquest, he left her with dilapidated slats to a road that led to nowhere. Signs along the way, she walked the path until her feet bled, knowing that if she proved her love for him that he would return. His soul too dark to care.
